The Covid crisis has had a major impact on India and in particular tourism. Indeed, the virus and more recently the Delta variant, caused the closure of the country and lockdown for its inhabitants.
The country has been very affected, and the figures given by the Minister of Tourism are impactful: 10.93 million foreign tourists would have visited India in 2019 and spent 30.098 billion dollars in leisure and business.
The ministers discussed measures aimed at supporting and relaunching the activity and in particular the issuance of 500,000 free tourist visas.
You read correctly ! As soon as the borders open to tourism, the first 500,000 tourist visa applications will be free.
You will have until March 31, 2022 maximum to submit your request. Be aware however, if the 500,000 visas were to be issued before the date, registrations would be closed.
